Who In The Hel Is Ior Bock?

Who In The Hel Is Ior Bock?

Ior Bock - great story-teller. Who was he actually? The documentary is an attempt to look into the life of the amazing man and an attempt to understand him better. Told through some of the many friends of Ior Bock, even those who were with him in the last few moments of his life.

The Ior Bock Saga: Is Everything We Know about History Wrong?

The Ior Bock Saga: Is Everything We Know about History Wrong?

There are many disagreements among scholars regarding historical events and individuals, however there is a consensus that most historians follow - a mainstream view of world history. At the same time, there are also those who challenge the mainstream view. A rather provocative example of this would be the ideas of the now deceased eccentric Swedish-speaking Finnish tour guide Ior Bock, born as Bror Holger Svedlin, who, among other things, claimed that humans existed on Earth 50 million years ago and originated in what is now Finland. Although it is always possible that the mainstream is mistaken, the Ior Bock saga does not stand up very well to scrutiny.

The mainstream view of human history is that anatomically modern humans evolved about 200,000 years ago in eastern Africa. The earliest evidence of art and religious expression occur in the archaeological record maybe 70,000 years ago (also in Africa) and the earliest agricultural communities emerged about 10,000 years ago in the Middle East. The earliest civilizations sprang up in the river valleys of the Tigris and Euphrates, the Indus River Valley, and the Yellow and Yangtze Rivers by 5,000 years ago.  Modern humans did not reach Finland, according to the mainstream view, until after the end of the last glacial maximum, about 11,000 years ago, and civilization didn’t reach Finland until late Antiquity or the early Middle Ages.

Bock’s Explanation of Human Origins

Ior Bock, on the other hand, claimed that his family within their traditions preserved the true history of the world which had been suppressed by institutions, such as the Roman Catholic Church, for at least a millennium. According to Ior Bock’s story, humans originated tens of million years ago on a continent situated over the North Pole. It was here that the first human societies emerged, which would become the foundation for all later civilizations.

According to Ior Bock, the Ice Age began around 50 million years ago - shortly after humans appeared. Ior Bock’s explanation of human evolution is also different. He claimed that humans were the result of some sort of combination of goats and monkeys. The exact location where humans first originated, according to the saga, is a land called Uudenmaa. Uudenmaa, which supposedly inspired the story of the Garden of Eden, is now in Finland.

The Aser and Vaner

Before the global Ice Age, humanity was divided into two parts, the Aser and the Vaner. The Aser were the first people and they lived in Uudenmaa proper. The Vaner lived outside Uudenmaa and were produced later through breeding programs. When the Ice Age began, the Aser became trapped in Uudenmaa – it was surrounded by ice sheets for millions of years, until 10,000 years ago when the ice retreated.

After the ice retreated, according to Ior Bock, the Aser made contact with the human cultures which had developed across the globe. According to this lore, as the ice sheets melted these cultures became in danger of floods. The Aser, in response, built boats for humans and animals to protect them during the flooding. The story of these floods and the building of these boats is alleged to be the basis for the story of Noah’s flood.

After the catastrophe, the Aser did what they could to help rebuild civilization by sending teachers to every major civilization to teach them the values of Uudenma and Ooden (Eden). This apparently had only moderately successful results. The Aser were also behind the establishment of civilization in Europe and the religious values of the Aser became prevalent in the pagan religions of old (pre-Christian) Europe.

These traditions of the Aser continued in some form or another until the coming of Christianity. According to Ior Bock, the Church suppressed these traditions so that only two families remained who had knowledge of these traditions. One of which was the Bockstroms, from which Ior Bock claimed his family descended.

Ior Bock the Prophet?

Ior Bock believed himself to be a prophet who was appointed 10,000 years ago to restore the true understanding of history when mankind was ready. Ior Bock died in 2010, but many of his followers are still committed to transmitting the saga that they believe to be the truth which has been misjudged by the academic establishment.

Could Ior Bock’s account of world history be right?

What makes Ior Bock’s account so extraordinary is that it wouldn’t just mean that history as we know it is wrong, but that much of the physical and social sciences including: geology, paleontology, evolutionary biology, archaeology, and even linguistics, are wrong as well. While that is certainly possible, it is something that is, simply by its nature, unlikely and would require a lot of convincing proof.

Assessing Ior Bock’s Claims

Ior Bock claims that modern humans first appeared before 50 million years ago, something for which there is currently no indisputable evidence. The only primates during that time for which there is fossil data were some early prosimians. No apes or monkeys appear until the Oligocene (35-23 Ma) and even the earliest bipedal ape fossils (such as Sahelanthropus tchadensis) are no more than 7 million years old.

The oldest recorded fossils resembling anatomically modern humans are a fraction of that age, only about 195,000 years old. If we consider phylogenetic evidence, the date is pushed back to perhaps 290,000 years ago.  To be fair, there was a recent finding of an almost modern-looking skull in Morocco dating to 300,000 B.P. But this is still much too young to support anything like Ior Bock’s story of human origins.

Also, the most recent cycle of ice ages started about 2.5 Ma, during the late Pliocene. Over the past 2 million years or so there have been alternating periods consisting of glacial maxima (ice ages) lasting about 100,000 years and interglacial periods where the glaciers retreat, resulting in a temporary warming of the planet for a period of about 10,000 years. We are currently in an interglacial period which is why Europe and North America are not encased in ice. The most recent cycle of ice ages (or glaciations) before the present one ended 260 million years ago during the Permian Period. There is no geological evidence of a major glaciation event at 50 Ma. In fact, paleoclimate data shows that the planet was warmer than average 50 million years ago.

Ior Bock’s view of human evolution is also different from what we know from phylogenetics and fossil evidence. Goats and humans are on separate evolutionary lines that diverged 80-100 million years ago which means that by 50 million years ago, they would already be along lineages that had diverged and would have been incapable of merging. The only way that the rise of the human species could have anything to do with a fusion of ruminants and primates is genetic manipulation by an intelligent agent.

Based on our knowledge of humans and goats, there simply isn’t a biological or genetic reason to believe that this ever happened. Humans do have traits in common with goats, but they have just as many traits in common with cattle or horses - so unless his supporters want to argue for those connections, Bock’s view cannot be defended on that basis.

His most problematic errors may be in the field of linguistics. Ior Bock creates several etymologies of words that simply don’t stand up to scrutiny. For example, he claims that the word ‘planet’ comes from the words “plan” simply meaning plan and “et”, which Bock claims means family and says that ‘planet’ thus means “family plan to make the world whole.” But practically all scholars agree that the word ‘planet’ comes from the Greek word planets, which means wanderer and is based on the belief that the planets were wandering stars as opposed to the apparently unmoving stars which appeared to be embedded in a celestial sphere.

He also claims that the word ‘history’ comes from “his story” by which he appears to mean the story from the perspective of men and that the word ‘mystery’ comes from “her miss-story” meaning, most likely, the story from the perspective of women. However, the word ‘history’ comes from a Greek word that essentially means inquiry, and mystery comes from another Greek word which means “hidden” or “secret.” Many of the etymologies he suggests are not only demonstrably false but some would only work if we were to assume that the ancients spoke modern English. It could be claimed that there is an effort among linguists to cover up the true etymology of words, but this is just a conspiracy theory that cannot be proven or disproven.

Man-and-Woman-contemplating-the-moon.jpg

‘Man and Woman contemplating the moon’ (1818/1824) by Caspar David Friedrich. (Public Domain) Bock claimed that ‘history’ and ‘mystery’ made reference to the stories presented by men and women separately.

All the errors in other fields cast doubt on the reliability of Ior Bock when he speaks about history and archaeology as well. There is little solid evidence that support’s Bock’s claim that Finland was a center of civilization before the Middle Ages or that it was inhabited by modern humans before the Holocene. The only evidence of human settlement of Finland before the end of the last interglacial is a possible Neanderthal site dating to 125,000 B.P.

It is possible that Ior Bock is on to something, but the many errors he makes across multiple fields calls his reliability as a preserver of ancient secrets into question. For this reason, it is more likely that the mainstream view, despite its admitted flaws, is closer to the correct view of history… at least closer than the Bock saga.

Ior Bock gräver i Sibbo

IDA FELLMANHELSINGFORS

Pengarna tog slut.

Lemminkainen Temple - June 22, 2017

Eric Edney and I have rented a cottage with a wood burning sauna by the sea in Gumbostrand. We are staying here until July 25th.  We will be working with Juha and Petri on cleaning up the Temple and perhaps making a little plaque to commemorate the location. This morning we took a 15 minute stroll from the cottage to the Temple. It was a beautiful summer morning. Everyone is getting ready for the Midsommar festivities.

How Joulupukki, the Finnish Santa, went from naughty to nice.

How Joulupukki, the Finnish Santa, went from naughty to nice.

Santa Claus has something of a dark past. The jolly and generous old man of Christmas that we all know and love wasn’t always so jolly—especially in Finland.

sundblom-santa.jpg

The Santa who is most recognizable today is the result of a mix of various stories and cultures, and many of his iconic traits have been added to the tale over the centuries. American Santa evolved from Sinterklaas, who was brought to New York by Dutch settlers in the 17th century. As time passed, various groups and individuals helped shape the image of modern Santa, adding bits of lore such as flying reindeer and magical chimney abilities. A Finnish American, Haddon Sundblom, solidified the image of modern, jolly American Santa with his famous Christmas illustrations for Coca-Cola in the 1930s. Sunblom’s Santa, however, couldn’t be further from the original Finnish Santa, Joulupukki.

Joulupukki translates to “Yule Goat.” Yule, a pre-Christian pagan festival, was a midwinter celebration with feasting and sacrifice that took place in many Germanic cultures. So what do goats have to do with it? While sadly there’s no definitive answer, the most popular theory suggests that goats are linked to the god Thor. Associated with storms and fertility, Thor commanded a goat-driven chariot, and goats became associated with harvests and fertility through him. Traditions evolved as they tend to do, and men took to dressing up in horned goat costumes as part of the rituals. In Finland, the nuuttipukki as they are called, were evil spirits who would go door to door demanding gifts and leftovers from the Yule feast.

Nuuttipukki, 1926

That brings us back to Joulupukki. The Finnish Santa is a blend of the nuuttipukkiand modern Santa Claus, or the “Coca-Cola” Santa. Sometime in the 19th century, he became a benevolent figure, and rather than demanding gifts, began passing them out to children. These days, Joulupukki visits homes to deliver gifts to children. Unlike American Santa, he doesn’t use the chimney—he rings the bell and enters politely through the door, asking the still-awake families “Onko täällä kilttejä lapsia?” (“Are there any well-behaved children here?”). He wears red robes and drives a sleigh pulled by reindeer (who sadly don’t fly), and calls Korvatunturi in Lapland home.

Joulupukki in the streets of Helsinki, 1930.

Yule goats are still common in Nordic countries, such as decorative goats made of wicker. Large statuesque goats made of wicker are sometimes erected in towns, such as the Gävle goat in Sweden, which infamously faces an annual battle against arson. In some areas of Finland, nuuttipukki still make visits on Nuutinpäivä, or St. Knut’s Day, which takes place on January 13 and is an end-of-the-holiday-season blend of the pagan holiday and the Christian Epiphany.

Gävle goat

As for Joulupukki, many tales of his dark past still find their way into modern consciousness—but whether they are completely accurate is another story. Take for example the illustrations below, which tend to pop up on social media, websites and forums during Christmas as proof of the horrible deeds of Joulupukki. While they look convincing, they are in fact the work of modern day illustrator Lauri Ahonen, who created the terrifying images based on legends for the Finnish film Rare Exports (which we highly recommend).

Gärningsmannens sinnesundersökning pågick i månader inför rättegången.

Rykten i trakten

Invånarna i närheten noterar saken.

BAKGRUND

Ior Bock

  • Ior Bock föddes som Bror Holger Svedlin den 17 januari 1942. Mördades i oktober 2010.

Här gjorde man barn.

South American Natives Speak Ancient European Language? Part 1

Hungarian Táltos Cave Found in Ecuador

Juan (János) Moricz’ discovery of South American, Hungarian speaking Indians

by Györgyné Hary (1977)

The Peabody Museum announced to Harvard University that following the archaeological digs in Puebla, Mexico conducted by their research expedition sent there, this expedition concluded that the American man did not appear in America between 12-15 000 years ago – as previously thought – but over 40 000 years ago. Among the archaeological finds were human skeletons and chiseled stone tools together with ancient animals extinct for over 40 000 years. The news agencies of the USA spread these new all over the world.

In those days in Ecuador, Peru and the Amazonas Juan (János) Moricz, our compatriot, met such Indian tribes the members of which he could speak Hungarian with. In their legends they keep the awareness and knowledge of their many thousands of years’ old past and their kinship and connections with other peoples alive. Nobody has been able to refute Moricz’ discoveries, on the contrary, the Spanish for political and economical reasons have levelled heavy attacks against Moricz.

His discoveries are significant indeed. This much is certain, that through the many years of darkness the world’s ancient history has been in, the ancient past of the Magyar will shine with radiant splendour in front of all the peoples of the world. By reading the educational literature, daily press and the academic literature of the early 20th century it was common knowledge that in the Amazonas’ ancient jungles lives such White Indian tribes that they had practically not come in contact with yet, and thus this area held from the researchers many until then unknown surprises. A portion of these surprises is this one.

In the 1920s several reports were received to the effect that the Hungarian engineers and workers working in South and Central America were speaking Hungarian with the local Indian workers. Some of the Hungarian emigrants who settled here after the Second World War took these rumours seriously and started looking into it more carefully. One of these was János Moricz who started his investigations in Ecuador in the 1960s. Here he spoke Hungarian with the members of three Indian tribes: the Cahari, Mochica and Puruha. Enthused by this he started archaeological and archive investigations and, among other finds, he managed to collect more than 10 000 geographical and family names identical to Hungarian ones. As a result of his findings he was appointed historical consultant at one of the Argentinian universities.

His research was mainly conducted in Ecuador, the capital of which is Quito. The city is named after the old Quito empire. Quito originally sounded like Kitus.1 Here in the Kitus empire, on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, between the peaks of the Cordillera (Andes) mountains –higher than 5000 metres – on the secretive and mythical plains covered with Amazonas’ ancient jungles live those Indian tribes, some of whom still speak our ancient Hungarian language, even today.

  1. Pronounced keet-oosh in Hungarian. Kit=Két, Us=Ős, i.e. “the empire of the Two Ancestors”

Based on Moricz’s research the Institutio de Antropologia y Geografia of Quito stated that the ancient language that suffered the wanton extermination of the Spanish was the Hungarian language. The traces of this ancient language clearly show themselves in the geographical and family names, notwithstanding the forced change of language carried out by the Spanish. The tribes still speaking Hungarian – among them the Cayapa, Salasaca (Zala-szaka, several ancient sources mentions the Scythians by the name of Saka) – use words like these, among others: apa=apa (father), aya=anya (mother), nap=nap (sun, day), vin=vén (old), kit=két (two), us=ős (ancient, forefather, progenitor), cu=kő (stone), pi, bi=víz (water), fuel=folyó (river), pille=pille (moth), lepke (butterfly) and so on.

Some names consistent with Hungarian names: Tanay, Damma, Taday, Mór, Momay, Mansy, Pil, Béla, Uray, Zillahi etc. The name of one of the ancient places of the Zuay province: Pest. On the area of the old Kitus empire can be found burial mounds1 (kurgan) and in them trepanated skulls. Among the archaeological artefacts we find axes (fokos) and a sceptre and orb analogous to the Hungarian coronation jewels. According to Moricz this golden orb (‘alma’=apple) with a double cross actually symbolises the globe of the earth.

These discoveries were received with great enthusiasm in all of South America, especially in Ecuador. They veritably celebrated the finds, for not even the violent rule of the Spanish invaders could completely erase the memory of their ancient past. The authorities double-checked Moricz’s linguistic and archaeological data and found them reliable. They decided to make a huge international “issue” out of the matter, in order to hasten the revision of the history of the Americas. According to their plans they intended to turn to the United Nations.

Following further investigations and with the help of the local Indians Moricz discovered a vast system of caves in the ancient jungles of Ecuador. In one of the caves he stumbled upon a veritable museum: a library in runic script carved on golden plates, sculptures, cultural monuments. He named this cave the “Cave of the Shamans”.2 (Táltosok Barlangja) In his opinion the ancient inhabitants collected all of this treasure in this cave for protection from the threats of Spanish invaders. Moricz claims that the entire Andes mountains are riddled with cave systems and passages. These were used for transportation by the ancient inhabitants. The Argentinian president and and the Ecuadorian general staff wanted to entrust him to lead a research expedition for which they would provide him with economical and technical support. However, this plan was never realised.

  1. In Hungarian ‘halomsír’()
  2. This translation is not really correct because the priest caste of the ancient Hungarians were not actually shamans. There is no equivalent for the notion of ‘táltos’ in any other language. A close relative could be considered the Welsh bards or the Celtic druids. The sacred task of the táltos was, among many other tasks, to remember, guard and cherish the ancient memories, heritage and legacy of their race and to teach it and they did this through the medium of song.

Meanwhile, the leaders of the greatly influential Mormon “church” became involved in the matter. This church has at its disposal a vast fortune, they engage in an active programme of expansion in the Americas. The church leaders stated, that they support any and all ventures which has as its goal to help clarify the origins of the human race and the origin of religion. They promised “unselfish” support, they only asked for one thing, that they would be entrusted with the decoding of the content of the golden plates.

After this János Moricz held a big press conference where he announced his discoveries to the press, radio and TV reporters. The atmosphere at the several hours long press conference was extraordinarily enthusiastic. It seemed, that a sensation concerning the whole world was beginning its journey, but instead what followed the press conference was solid silence and discourteous reservation. Not a single news report appeared about it. Then again, the main leaders of the Mormon church would not leave Moricz alone, continually harassing him to reveal to them the location of the cave.

It became clear from this hostile behaviour that they were not dealing with a trusting church but that this church was backed by an organization hungry for world power. Treasure discovery and other goals are their incentive. At this point Moricz decided he will not reveal the secrets of the cave. He became convinced that the time for the revelation of the caves was not yet come, therefore he decided to first discover the enigma of the arrival to the Americas of the Hungarian speaking tribes, or rather to prove the fact by pragmatic methods.

On May 28, 1970 a raft made of balsam wood, according to the ideas of Moricz, set sail from the Ecuadorian coast with a crew of four young men. Moricz guided them from the shore by radio. 159 days later the raft arrived on October 4 in Australia, not far from Sydney. Here they towed the sensational raft that sailed halfway around the globe.1
Moricz’ theory is that the Hungarian speaking tribes arrived in South America by sea from the West. This is proven also by the geographical names of the Pacific ocean and East Asia. Bátor Vámos Tóth, a Hungarian emigrant teacher of geography living in Hawaii, has collected 50 Hungarian-sounding Hawaiian geographical names. And in the Pacific archipelago he found names that are identical to those around Lake Balaton in Hungary, for example: Aliga, Kiliti, Lelle etc. Substantiating with maps he indicated that in Indonesia and the Indus valley every 4th and every 3rd geographical name is Hungarian respectively.

In the question of the origins of the American ancient indigenous population, or rather its migration there we are provided with important data from the so-called Kland scrolls. In 1967 an archaeological group with American funding found, under s 20 metre thick layer of lava, a stone box containing an intact written scroll. C14 dating found it to be around 21 000 years old. Since then the writing has be decoded and it turns out they contain the history, culture and circumstances of the thousands of years ago sunken continent of Mu. A member of the group, Tony Earl, wrote a book detailing the process and the results of the archaeological dig, called ‘Mu Revealed’. The book triggered great interest at the time but today probably is unavailable.
